Murchison Falls national park is not only interesting for the falls, but also for the game drives and boat trips to the falls. Most of the game drives are on the northern bank of the Nile, so you have to cross it by ferry. Because the banks are pretty low here, the women from the surrounding area come to this place to get water.

During our game drive we saw a lot of giraffes, buffalos, antelopes and a group of lions. Especially the giraffes were easy to photograph: we had to wait patiently while they were crossing our path.

Murchison Falls national park is behalve voor de watervallen ook interessant voor de gamedrives en de boottocht naar de watervallen. De gamedrives worden in de regel op de noordoever van de Nijl uitgevoerd, dus moet die wel met de pont worden overgestoken. Omdat de oever daar laag is komen de vrouwen uit de omgeving hier hun water halen.

Op onze gamedrive hebben we veel giraffen, buffels nijlpaarden, antilopen en een groep leeuwen gezien. Vooral de giraffen leenden zich hier heel goed voor het maken van foto's: we moesten geduldig wachten tot de groep was overgestoken.

During the boat trip to the falls we saw a lot of hippos. There were also some crocodiles, elephants, buffalos and a lot of beautiful water birds to be seen.

You can reach the top of the falls by car. There is a landing strip for helicopters close to the falls. For the hartebeests this is a good place to stay a while, because there are not so many tsee-tsee flies.

The falls were very impessive. Not so big, but there is a lot of water going through this narrow gorge.

Tijdens de boottocht naar de watervallen waren er zoals gewoonlijk veel nijlpaarden te zien. Verder zagen we nog enkele krokodillen, olifanten, buffels en mooie watervogels.

De top van de watervallen kunnen met de auto worden bereikt. Vlakbij de watervallen is er een landingsplaats voor helikopters, hetgeen voor de hartebeesten een mooie vluchtplaats was voor de tseetseevliegen.

De watervallen waren indrukwekkend. Niet omdat ze zo groot zijn, maar omdat er zo'n enorme hoeveelheid water door deze nauwe opening gaat.
